Skype meeting with Rawdanur Cuma

Rawdanur Cuma is a student at a university in Turkey. She is studying political science and international relation and she is a Syrian refugee who was recently granted a Turkish citizenship from President Recep Tayyip Erdogan himself. Glocally Connected was able to video chat with her and talk about school, work and personal life.

We talked about her plans to study here in the U.S. and her future involvement with the Malala Fund. As a regular student, she talked about missing her parents at the refugee camp because it's far from her dormitory. She hopes to return to Syria. I asked her why and she said: "Syria needs us; our country needs the youth to make  changes." There's many similarities between Rawdanur and I. We are both passionate about youth activism and refugee causes; but for the most part, we are just regular college students developing ourselves with a desire to make a change
